Natural ground cover of Norwegian wool
Ull-dekke (Wool cover) is an insulating and nutrient-rich ground cover, made from wool from Norwegian sheep, shredded to make it easy to use in the garden!
The natural properties of wool make it excellent as both insulation, a moisture retainer, and as a supplement of organic material to the soil, which promotes healthier and more fertile soil.
Uses:
- As a cover: Apply wool cover to the soil surface to reduce weed growth and retain moisture in the soil.
- Around trunks and bushes: Insulates and provides frost protection for plants throughout the winter season.
- For slug and deer protection: Can be placed around plants and beds as a natural barrier against unwanted guests.
- Mixed into the soil: Improves soil structure and adds nutrients to the microbial life in the soil.
Ull-dekke breaks down naturally over 6–10 months, slowly releasing nutrients into the soil while the wool fibers keep the soil hydrated.
The insulating properties of wool protect against frost and temperature fluctuations, reduce erosion and runoff, and make it easier for water to penetrate the soil.
A moderate layer of wool also suppresses weeds and provides a good environment for microbial life and small organisms working in the soil.
Sustainable cultivation - simply.
