If the pellets are stored in a sealed bag in a dry place, they can last for a couple of years. However, the pellets are made of organic material, which means that if stored incorrectly or for too many years, the decomposition process will begin even before they are placed in the soil.

The pellets are intended for one application per season. If you have plants with a high nitrogen requirement or if there is a lot of rain, you can apply a second round.

The pellets have the smell of sheep, and some animals may find this interesting. Most will find it fun to smell, but will leave the beds alone after planting as the scent subsides somewhat in the soil. In very few cases, dogs have dug in beds as a result of the smell. Just as dogs and cats find it interesting, deer and moose may shy away from the smell, and you will get bushes that are kept intact so that you yourself can enjoy buds and berries.

Pellets can have a preventative effect against slugs if used "correctly." Slugs dislike crawling on wool pellets, so these should be placed on top of the soil in the bed, or as a protective wool barrier around it. Wool pellets buried in the soil will not necessarily have the same effect.

The wool we use to make wool pellets is low-value wool, as it is either too coarse, dirty, or pigmented for use in textile and yarn production. This is a resource that, instead of being used, is discarded, buried, or burned, and much of its value for the sheep farmer is lost. Currently, there are few other uses for this wool, but research is continuously being conducted on how we can transform this resource into something of value for both consumers and farmers.

Wool pellets are ideal for use in potted plants. With a slow-release fertilizer like this, applied annually during repotting, an intuitive amount of approximately one tablespoon (10g) is completely sufficient to provide a medium-sized houseplant with adequate nutrients and optimal growth throughout the year. Be somewhat cautious with plants that prefer an acidic soil environment.

The application is intuitive, and the breakdown of soil bacteria will not result in a harmful overdose of nutrients. For plants that prefer an acidic soil environment (conifers, rhododendrons, bog grass, etc.), you must be a little careful when using it, as Woolero wool pellets are alkaline (80% of all utility and ornamental plants prefer an alkaline environment).
